Local Wedding | Ben & Tarn

THE PLANNING

I’m honestly the biggest control freak. I’m that friend that plans every occasion for everyone else. When it came to our wedding I knew that I had to completely let go to enjoy the process so we chose who we would use (vendors) then gave them creative freedom. I seriously had no idea of what our flowers would look like till an hour before the ceremony. I love a good DIY so my favourite part was definitely personalising gifts for bridesmaids, groomsmen and signs.

HURDLES

We had to reschedule our wedding 3 times. We have parents and siblings in the Northern Territory so we basically had to wait for borders to open and then gave everyone 4 weeks notice. This was definitely the hardest part of planning as those people were non negotiables to us.

I walked down the isle to “Take The World” by Johnnyswim because that’s how I feel having Ben as my partner. (Cheesy I know😂).
We didn’t have a typical first dance but we had a cheeky little dance while no one was watching to “Kiss somebody” by Morgan Evans, a song from when we first started dating.

WE SPLURGED ON..

Photography, videography and food! The way I saw it was we will have the photos and video forever and everyone will remember good food.

WE SAVED ON..

We moved our wedding from a beautiful venue up in Kundabung after having to cut our guest list by 80 people(😭) due to restrictions. We had our ceremony at Douglas Vale Vineyard. It is a volunteer run group so we definitely saved there and then had our reception at Blackduck Brewery. I got all of my bridesmaids dresses on a cyber Monday sale for like 70% off. Their shoes were a buy one get one half price and same sort of deal for the groomsmen. We chose a newly established cake business to do our cake too.

FAVOURITE PART

I was so full of excitement all day that I really don’t know what to pinpoint. I found it really special to see Ben show such a pure emotion. I felt like it was just us and no one else mattered.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES

It is YOUR day. No one else’s opinion matters as long as it makes you happy. I also feel like lots of people do things just to get a good shot for socials so make sure you’re doing it for the right reason.
